ACES LOSE HOLD IN GRIPPING MATCH WITH MICMACS

The Aces and Micmacs went head to head Tuesday night. The Aces were hungry for their first win of the season and came out with a vengeance. Mark Reddigan buried a slap shot on his first shift to get the Aces rolling. Duncan Gilfillan, Ryan Dickinson and Matt Hinton followed up with a goal each to jump to an early 4-0 lead. The Aces got a little too comfortable, took their foot of the gas, and could only watch as the Macs climbed back into the game with goals from Jarrett Carter, Derek Hale and Dylan Currie to trail 4-3 by the end of the first. Jarrett Carter then added his second of the night to tie the match 4-4. Aces Duncan Gilfillan fired back with his second of the contest to keep his Aces ahead 5-4. The Micmacs pulled their netminder with 1:23 left to play, and Dan Rosenoff responded to tie the match 5-5. Rosenoff then added another with 36 seconds to play to grab the 6-5 lead. The desperate Aces didn’t give up and swarmed the Macs crease with 19 seconds to play. During the chaos Bailey Huber jumped on a loose puck and tied the game 6-6. Both netminders hung on for a shootout decision. Macs netminder Matt Clarke stood his ground while Jarrett Carter, and captain Coady Carter capitalized on their chances. The Micmacs stole the 7-6 victory to earn their 5th win of the season, the Aces secured their first point in the standings.
